My Favorite Songs of 2024
To celebrate the end of this incredible year of music, I compiled a list of my top 30 favorite songs that were the soundtrack of my 2024. I only included one song per artist, otherwise this list would have ended up being twice as long - plus it probably would be made up of half Billie Eilish and half Charli xcx songs! It was the year of the BRAT for sure, their music really defined the year for me. The rest of this list is made up of more of my long-time favorite artists who released so much incredible music this year, as well as many new artists that I discovered in 2024 and fell in love with.
Honestly, 2024 has been one of the best years for music in a very long time. I initially tried to narrow this list down to the best 24 songs of 2024, but this year was just too good for new releases! It feels like there was a period of time from around March through July that was stacked with back-to-back new music every single week from all of the best artists out right now. It's been such a fun year to be a fan of all these amazing artists and I can only imagine what 2025 will bring next. This list is loosely ranked, but I absolutely love every single song featured.
Some of these tracks were also included in my monthly New Music Friday posts throughout the year, while others are new additions that I discovered at different points in 2024. I have also written in depth about many of these artists and their new releases throughout the year, which will be linked throughout if you are interested in reading more. I will be sharing even more in my post about my favorite albums of the year too!
Enjoy! ✨
"CHIHRO" by Billie Eilish
It was a no-brainer to rank Billie Eilish as both my favorite song and favorite album of the year. What she and Finneas did with HIT ME HARD AND SOFT is absolutely incredible, listening to this album for the first time truly felt life changing for me in a lot of ways. It is easily their best work yet and quickly became one of my favorite albums of all time. With that being said, there were many songs that I debated including on the top of this list by Billie. From the gorgeous "BIRDS OF A FEATHER" - to the heartfelt "WILDFLOWER" - to her iconic collaboration with Charli xcx on "Guess" - there were so many options that made it hard to narrow down the very best. 2024 really was Billie's year and I love to see her continue to push the boundaries of her artistry more and more with each release.
There are several moments during HIT ME HARD AND SOFT that sound so transcending and almost ethereal when listening to it. The third track, "CHIHIRO" comes to mind right away when I think of the greatest moments of the album. I still feel so blown away by every single time I listen to it. Her repeatedly asking, "Open up the door, can you open up the door? I know you said before you can't cope with anymore," in particular feels very representative of the overall visual aesthetic of the album. This song sounds the way the album cover looks, if that makes sense, and beautifully captures the HIT ME HARD AND SOFT theme as a whole.
"CHIHIRO" is about the back and forth of a complex relationship, showcasing a lot of confusion and turmoil she is going through at that time. That is one of the overarching themes of much of this album. "CHIHIRO" is also loosely inspired by the main character of the 2001 film Spirited Away, but also blended into Billie's personal life. She has also mentioned multiple times in the past that much of the artistic direction of WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP was also very inspired by Spirited Away and the rest of the work by Miyazaki. As described in an article on boredpanda, the film is about a girl who "learned to face her fears by developing a heightened understanding and appreciation of life," - which is also largely what much of HIT ME HARD AND SOFT is about too. Billie does a really great job at blending the two points of inspiration into the song, with each lyric being able to be interpreted in many different ways.
My love for this song has only grown since its release and getting to hear Billie perform it live at Madison Square Garden this year only further solidified the top spot for me. It was the opening song of the show and was just as magical as I always imagined it would be live. From her stunning vocals to the way the intensity of the music keeps building and building until the end - it is truly one of the most incredible songs I think I've ever heard in my life.
favorite lyric: "But there's a part of me that recognizes you, do you feel it too?"

"Girl so confusing remix" by Charli xcx & Lorde
BRAT had such a massive moment in pop culture this year and as a long-time fan of Charli, it has been so exciting to see her receive recognition at this level. It is long overdue and well deserved to say the least. It felt like Charli fully infiltrated every area of culture with this album and with the marketing rollout. Also, she not only did it once, but twice, with the release of the reimagined version of the album brat and it's completely different but also still brat featuring completely brand-new arrangements, lyrics, and collaborations. To call it a remix album wouldn't quite do the innovation of that album justice. BRAT is so unique because it is a club record that simultaneously goes really deep in her introspection and more specifically as an analysis of the complicated female experience. Her "Girl, so confusing" remix featuring Lorde is undoubtedly one of the greatest pop culture moments of the entire year and will go down in history as a defining moment of this decade in music. This is what it looks like when two artists are fully in it for the love of the art and to create an iconic moment for the fans that have been following this entire journey from the start.
When the album was first released, many speculated that the original solo version of "Girl, so confusing" was about Charli's complicated friendship with Lorde, which she later confirmed to be true. She writes her thoughts in a very stream-of-consciousness way, wondering why they never connected on a deeper level despite all that they have in common. Charli is often left in this state of limbo and confusion from the mixed signals she was getting and decides to finally address it in a song. In the chorus, Charli repeatedly sings, "It's so confusing sometimes to be a girl" - which is so true and really is the perfect way to put it. I never heard anyone in her position before being this upfront and honest about these feelings and it is so brave to admit them. Just a few weeks after the album came out, Charli and Lorde "worked it out on the remix", which now tells the other side of the story with Lorde admitting that she has been fighting her own inner battle and trapped in a cycle of self-hatred. As a result of that, she retreated into herself, but outwardly would end up unintentionally seeming stand-offish to others. A lot of it ended up being just a projection of their own insecurities onto the other, which they both do such a great job at portraying.
The best part of Lorde's response to this is that she fully matched Charli's energy in every regard for this remix. The way Lorde is singing and writing on "Girl, so confusing" is unlike any other song she has ever made and I love that she fully immersed herself into the bratosphere in that way. It is very conversational and honest, as they are literally talking back and forth to each other in the same song. So many lyrics from her verse hit me so hard every time I hear them, but the final few lines especially always give me chills, "And it's just self-defense until you're building a weapon, she believed my projection and now I totally get it, forgot that inside the icon, there's still a young girl from Essex". That final line best sums up what BRAT is at it's core and it just evokes so much raw emotion. As a woman, no matter how old we are or how confident we may appear outwardly, that little girl we once were is always apart of us and Lorde described that so poignantly. Although "Girl, so confusing" is about the back and forth of two popstars, these feelings and messy friendship dynamics are so universal. Everyone has had a Lorde to their Charli or a Charli to their Lorde, if that makes sense. I know I can definitely see myself in both of them in this situation.
They are two of the greatest artists of this generation and seeing them come together like this has been something so incredibly special to witness. I cried the first time I listened to it, especially at the end when they are singing together - I still get chills just thinking about it! People just don't make songs like this and I found the journey from beginning to end so moving - from hearing the original version and seeing this online conversation surrounding it, to it all leading up to the remix featuring Lorde herself. It's just magic and what BRAT is all about to me. Brat summer has gone places that I could have never imagined when I first heard this album and it has only just kept on rolling ever since. Needless to say the internet did, in fact, go crazy for this masterpiece and I love it so much! You know I ride for you, Charli (and Lorde) 💚
favorite lyric: "And it's just self-defense until you're building a weapon, she believed my projection and now I totally get it, forgot that inside the icon there's still a young girl from Essex"

"Lonely Is The Muse" by Halsey
I was left shook to my core after listening to Halsey's The Great Impersonator, a conceptual album that takes the listener on an emotional rollercoaster from beginning to end. It was written amidst major life changes and life-threatening health struggles, unsure of if she would even be alive to see the album come out. Thinking it might have been the last album she would ever make, Halsey imagined what kind of artist she would have been in the 70's, 80's, 90's, and 00's if things were to be different. Each song takes her influences through the decades and puts her own personal twist on the defining sounds of the time. I am continuously blown away by Halsey's stunning artistry and vivid world-building in their music. My favorite is undoubtedly "Lonely is the Muse", which is so powerful and sharply written. It sonically draws from rock and grunge aesthetics of the 1990's. That is a style that I always felt suited her best, especially after their incredible If I Can't Have Love I Want Power in 2021.
The song is about the way she always falls in love with artists and creative types, only to realize that time and time again she ends up feeling commodified and put on a pedestal as a means of inspiration for that person's art. I never heard this described before in a song and it truly gives me chills every single time I listen. Dare I say "Lonely is the Muse" is her best song yet?
favorite lyric: "I've inspired platinum records, I've earned platinum airline status and I mined a couple diamonds from the stories in my head, but I'm reduced to just a body here in someone else's bed"

"OMG" by Suki Waterhouse
From the moment I heard "OMG" in January of 2024, I knew immediately it would end up being one of my favorite songs of the entire year. It also ultimately ended up being my most played song on Spotify this year too, which is a testament to how obsessed with it I was all throughout the year. I fell in love with Suki Waterhouse's music last year and have had so much fun diving into her past work alongside all of her new releases. She is so effortlessly cool in the same way that artists like St. Vincent or Arctic Monkeys are to me, both of whom sound like evident inspirations "OMG". The bridge is especially such a shining moment of the song, her vocal performance and delivery of these lyrics is so great.
favorite lyric: "My baby don't look for me when I get lost on all these streets, see myself, but it's not me, I'm with the crowd, I cannot breathe, my baby's no good for me"
"Please Please Please" by Sabrina Carpenter
Honestly, "Espresso" walked so "Please Please Please" could run! Sabrina released so many great new songs this year, but "Please Please Please" is my favorite of them all. This was the first song she released from her collaborations with both Amy Allen and Jack Antonoff, which showcases the other side of the sonic direction she would be taking with the rest of Short n' Sweet. It is very different than "Espresso", with it being more mid-tempo with even the slightest country twang to it, which I think was an essential creative choice that she made with this album. On this song, she opens up about her fear of being let down in her new relationship, as she literally begs him to not embarrass her like all the rest did before. She showcases so much of her signature charm and wit on "Please Please Please", along with an absolutely stunning vocal performance. It was also her first song ever to reach number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and received wide critical acclaim. I have loved seeing her career flourish over the past couple of years and am so excited to see what she does next!
favorite lyric: "Heartbreak is one thing, my ego's another, I beg you, don't embarrass me, motherfucker"

"Tiny Moves" by Bleachers
A story of love and shared new beginnings are at the core of Bleachers' latest self-titled album. The album is defined in every way by the all-consuming love that Jack Antonoff has for his wife, actress Margaret Qualley. The way he sings about his love for her and the way she changed him for the better is really prevalent all throughout this record, but "Tiny Moves" beautifully sums up that feeling. Margaret really is at the heart of every single one of these songs in a really beautiful way. "Tiny Moves" is among my favorites that Bleachers has ever done for that very reason, there is so much pure, unfiltered happiness and love being expressed in it. I have loved being able to witness that joy be translated into a live setting twice this year when I saw them perform at Jack's hometown festival Shadow of the City, as well as the band's biggest show yet headlining Madison Square Garden.
favorite lyric: "A tiny twist of faith will come and shake you"

"Diet Pepsi" by Addison Rae
I have been saying for years that Addison Rae is the future of pop music and each release is just hit after hit! "Diet Pepsi" is probably her best yet, she is fully embodying her strongest influences of Britney Spears and the classic Americana aesthetics of Lana Del Rey's early music, which I of course love. I kind of think of it as the sister to "Diet Mountain Dew" by Lana in a lot of ways. Addison is so talented and makes music that is just to fun and infectious. Fingers crossed she finally releases her debut album in 2025!
favorite lyric: "Say you love, say you love, say you love me"
"What's It Gonna Take To Break Your Heart?" by Finneas
"What's It Gonna Take To Break Your Heart?" is one of the very best songs of Finneas' entire career thus far. The song is about wanting so badly to mean enough to someone to be able to even break their heart when it's all over. He sounds absolutely incredible and I love the harmonies with backing vocalist Lucy Healey too, which gives the listener both the male and female perspective in the story. These themes of longing and emotional turmoil make up a major portion of his latest album For Cryin' Out Loud!
favorite lyric: "If you only knew the way I pray for you, there's nothing I can do"

"Sexy To Someone" by Clairo
"Sexy To Someone" is undoubtedly the best song Clairo ever made. It's about wanting to be wanted by someone - even if it's just a fleeting moment of validation from a stranger - just to experience what that feeling is like in moments of loneliness. It's a topic that is very unique and something I don't often hear explored in music, but it is also so relatable in ways I never thought of before. "Sexy To Someone" just sounds so dreamy and has a lot of subtle tongue-in-cheek moments lyrically, which is a recurring element throughout Charm. She has such a talent for storytelling in a way that is innately modern, yet very rooted in the pop sounds of the 1970's. Each song is so layered, with a warm and inviting atmosphere that the listener is engulfed in with each song.
favorite lyric: "Ask if I'm in a movie, no, I didn't get the part"
"Good Luck, Babe!" by Chappell Roan
This year was Chappell Roan's massive breakout moment, which is well deserved after her decade of work to get herself to this point. "Good Luck Babe!" is the best song she released yet, I am so in awe of her incredible songwriting and powerhouse vocal performance. I love the synthy and nostalgic pop sound of it too, she fully embodies it stylistically and makes it all her own. She has proven herself to be one of the most exciting artists of this generation with such a bright career ahead of her. Her artistic vision is so clear and it's going to be so fun to see that unfold in the coming years. This song will go down as one of the defining music releases of the decade and I cannot wait to see where she goes next!
favorite lyric: "When you think about me all of those years ago, you're standing face to face with 'I told you so'"
"The Prophecy" by Taylor Swift
Taylor released a mammoth 31 track double album this year, so it was very difficult to narrow it down to just one song to highlight on this list! Some of my favorite songs from The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology come either at the very beginning of the first installment, or toward the latter half of the second. Songs like "My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys" and "Guilty As Sin?" from the first part or "The Bolter" and "Peter" from the second part of the album were all very close contenders to make it onto this list.
I do tend to gravitate more toward The Anthology section of the album overall, as it feels very reminiscent sonically and lyrically to Folklore. These songs often seem to be direct follow-ups to the escapism themes presented on that record. It shows a really sweet and gentle side of her in the songwriting, while also being so introspective and moving. They all give so much more insight into her deepest thoughts, fears, and fantasies than ever before. "The Prophecy" has quickly become one of my favorite songs Taylor has ever written for all of those reasons. She feels as if she "got cursed like Eve got bitten" and so badly wishes she could find her soulmate but at this point feels that she will never find one. "I guess a lesser woman would've lost hope, a greater woman wouldn't beg, but I looked to the sky and said, 'Please, I've been on my knees, change the prophecy, don't want money, just someone who wants my company, let it once be me, who do I have to speak to about if they can redo the prophеcy?'" The beautiful melody and production by Aaron Dessner on this song is truly some of their best work yet together.
favorite lyric: "A greater woman has faith, but even statues crumble if they're made to wait"

"End of an Era" by Dua Lipa
The opening song of Dua Lipa's Radical Optimism is of my favorite songs she has ever made! "End Of An Era" is an optimistic start to this journey the album is taking the listener on. While it incorporates subtle elements of Dua's past work, it is mostly an all new, fresh sound for her. Looking for new beginnings as a lovestruck hopeless romantic, she is asking herself, "Is this my happy ending?" With this song, Dua is saying goodbye to one chapter of her life while looking onward to what is about to come next. The lyric, "One chapter might be done, God knows I had some fun, new one has just begun," in particular really struck me as an important message for her to be getting across at the start of this album. I feel that it not only applies to the start of a new relationship, but also for the transition from her previous sound - ending with "Dance The Night" as her "goodbye to disco" last year - into this new world of Radical Optimism. I love the way she sings the pre-chorus, "In the clouds, there she goes, butterflies, let them flow, another girl falls in love, another girl leaves the club". This track has such a light and glittering sound, it's truly among her best yet.
favorite lyric: "Is this my happy ending?"

"Big Time Nothing" by St. Vincent
I am always so blown away by all of the music St. Vincent makes, she is such an incredible visionary. All Born Screaming was her first album to be solely produced by her alone, which is an exciting new development for her artistry. I love all of the varied influences she drew from with each song and the narrative being told throughout. "Big Time Nothing" is such a lyrically captivating song from the album, with such a cool funky production style. She described it as being a depiction of her inner monologue with all of the unfiltered anxieties that run through her mind daily.
favorite lyric: "Don't crack, don't act your age, don't change your name, it's all the rage, do ask but don't tell, don't laugh but do smile"
"Tough" by Lana Del Rey & Quavo
Lana Del Rey and Quavo teamed up for "Tough", a dreamy Americana summer anthem released right before the Fourth of July. It reminds me of something that could have been included on one of my all-time favorite albums by Lana, Lust For Life, which is a sound I love to hear her channeling again. I also love the resilient message of the lyrics and the varied influences they draw from in this song. Their voices unexpectedly blend so well together and they truly make a great pair on this song. I love it so much and hope that we get more new music from Lana in the new year!
favorite lyric: "I'm cut like a diamond shinin' in the rough"
"eternal sunshine" by Ariana Grande
Ariana's latest album, eternal sunshine, draws inspiration from the 2004 film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, which fully comes to life on the album's title track. "eternal sunshine" blends the events of the film that inspired it with the events of her real life in such a perfect way. She is so honest on this song and gives the listener everything they need to know about what she has been going through. There are quite a few lyrics that are really shocking to hear for the first time as well! She is at her most vulnerable in sharing her deepest feelings of wanting to move on and wipe her mind of her ex. In turn, it also acknowledges that he likely wants to wipe his mind of her as well. The storytelling is at it's strongest on the title track too, I definitely think it will go down as an all-timer in Ari's discography. The production is also so cool and feels very cinematic too. The double meaning that the term "eternal sunshine" also holds throughout this album is also very prevalent on this song, not just in the context of the film it is based off of, but as a concept of being able to grow and find happiness at the end of a dark period of life.
favorite lyric: "I found a good boy and he's on my side, you're just my eternal sunshine, sunshine"

"Defying Gravity" by Cynthia Erivo & Ariana Grande
I was left so in awe of Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande's performances in Wicked - something really did change within me after watching it. Of course, the soundtrack was also amazing, they are truly two of the greatest living vocalists. They sounded absolutely amazing and harmonized beautifully together. Their performances are mesmerizing and the strong bond they so clearly share on-screen and off elevates it to another level. Their characters are so layered, both as individuals and in their friendship with each other. One of the greatest moments of the entire film was the final breathtaking performance of "Defying Gravity". I was in tears the entire time, like fully sobbing up until the very end. I know this saying has been a bit of a meme lately, but I really have been ~holding space~ with the lyrics of "Defying Gravity" and literally have not stopped thinking about Cynthia's performance since I saw it! It honestly may be one of my favorite scenes from any movie ever, I cannot wait to see part two next year too. We really all do deserve the chance to fly!
favorite lyric: "Something has changed within mе, something is not the same, I’m through with playing by the rules of someone else's game"

"Soft Kissing Hour" by Nat & Alex Wolff
I had the most incredible experience seeing Nat & Alex Wolff open for Billie Eilish at Madison Square Garden back in October and it was one of the very best concerts I have been to in my life. Nat & Alex were truly so amazing live and easily the best opener at any show I have ever been to as well. They are both very talented multi-instrumentalists and vocalists, with such an unreal stage presence. Earlier that month, they released their beautiful new single "Soft Kissing Hour", which also features Billie as the producer and backing vocalist. I believe this is also the first time she ever produced a song outside of her own work, which is a really cool direction for her to be going in. This song was such a special part of Nat & Alex's set, they somehow made an arena full of thousands of people feel so small and intimate in those moments.
favorite lyric: "You're still my girl and it's your world"
"Sway" by Kacey Musgraves
There are so many songs on Deeper Well that really moved me, but one of my favorites Kacey has ever written is the sixth track, "Sway". It is such a beautiful and simple song, with the most gorgeous vocal harmonies. The imagery of a palm tree swaying in the wind, is such a beautiful metaphor for not letting the issues you may face in life break you. I have always loved palm trees, I even have a tattoo of one, so this song just really connected with me for so many reasons.
favorite lyric: "Maybe one day I'll learn how to sway like a palm tree in the wind, I won't break, I'll just bend"
Check out my full review of Deeper Well by Kacey Musgraves!
"Shakes" by Luke Hemmings
Luke Hemmings has said that much of this latest solo EP, boy, was written alone in hotel rooms and long plane rides when he was traveling around the world on tour with his band last year. These often lonely times in unfamiliar places between shows opened up a window of introspection and experimentation that he hasn't explored before with his music. "Shakes" was the first song he released from his second solo project, boy, and it perfectly brings much of those feelings to the forefront. It really captures the unique feeling of being surrounded by people, but still feeling alone in a crowded, bustling city. It's absolutely one of the best songs he has done yet as a solo artist, the layered vocals are just so ethereal. It captures all of the overarching themes of boy so beautifully.
favorite lyric: "Is it better to feel this or feel nothin' at all?"
"HISS" by Megan Thee Stallion
One of the most scathing diss tracks of all time is absolutely Megan Thee Stallion's "HISS" - there is simply no one else like her in rap music right now. She just kept going and going from start to finish with the sharpest lines. This was her very first number one single, which is so deserved. Her flow and the production are both stellar. This is easily one of her best releases yet!
favorite lyric: "These hoes don't be mad at Megan, these hoes mad at Megan's Law, I don't really know what the problem is, but I guarantee y'all don't want me to start"
":)" by The Japanese House
":)" / "Smiley Face" by The Japanese House is a really sweet song about falling in love long-distance over the internet. Front-woman Amber Bain sings about her daydreams of flying across the world to meet her, which was something happening in real time to her as she was wrting the song. "Turns out I did buy the plane tickets, now we’re engaged," she said in an interview with Dork. The song was also co-produced with her frequent collaborator George Daniel of The 1975, who is one of my favorite producers of all time and I love all of the work they've done together over the years. I also got to hear her perform this song live before it was released at the Shadow of the City festival in Asbury Park, New Jersey. It was the most beautiful setting, the sun was just starting to go down and her music created the most incredible atmosphere.
favorite lyric: "'Cause something's happening, I feel happier, I could be losing my mind, but something's happening"
"Run Your Mouth" by The Marias
The Marias is a band that I discovered this year and have been so drawn to "Run Your Mouth" ever since I first heard it. It is so dreamy and addictive to listen to, I'm so obsessed with it and can't wait to continue diving into more of their work. Plus the song's music video is so stunning too and one of the very best of the year!
favorite lyric: "I could never get away from you, yeah, I'll wait for you"
"luther" by Kendrick Lamar & SZA
Kendrick Lamar had a massive year with the release of his latest album GNX as well as the several legendary diss tracks he put out earlier this year too. With that being said, there were so many options to choose for my favorite song he made this year, but I am so drawn to the artistic chemistry he and SZA have on "luther", They have collaborated many times over the years (and are even set to go out on a joint tour in 2025), but this is my favorite from them so far. It is such a soulful and ethereal song, making it one of the many highlights of Kendrick's latest album. I am looking forward to seeing what the new year brings for him, especially with his performance at the Superbowl Halftime Show!
favorite lyric: "In this world, concrete flowers grow"
"That's So True" by Gracie Abrams
On her The Secret of Us deluxe track, "That's So True", Gracie's delivery is so raw and emotive. It is paired with very minimalist acoustic production, with full focus on her very specific and detailed storytelling. Although she is singing about heavy emotions, I love how she still incorporates a lot of lighthearted lyrical moments throughout too to balance it out. It is endlessly catchy, I can't get the bridge out of my head ever since I first heard it!
favorite lyric: "Ooh, you've got me thinking, 'She's so cool', but I know what I know and you're just another dude"
"Open Wide" by Inhaler
The title track of Inhaler's upcoming album Open Wide is such a mesmerizing and hypnotic performance from the band. I love the psych rock elements incorporated throughout, it is truly one of their best songs yet and I cannot wait to hear the rest of their new album very soon! It is one of my most anticipated of 2025 already!
favorite lyric: "I'll stay with you when you are cruel to the violent thoughts in your head, sometimes you'll do much worse, you can't reverse the beautiful things you said"
"BODYGUARD" by Beyoncé
Cowboy Carter takes the listener on such an immersive journey from beginning to end, but from the very first listen, I fell in love with "BODYGUARD" right away. I absolutely love the melody and Beyoncé's vocals are stunning, as always.
favorite lyric: "Be your best friend, I protect you in the mosh pit"
"Homesick" by Noah Kahan & Sam Fender
"Homesick" is a defining song from the Town Hall collaboration album Noah Kahan released as a companion to his breakout album Stick Season earlier this year. He and Sam Fender reflect back on their experiences growing up and the dreams they had when they were younger. "I would leave if only I could find a reason," they sing in the chorus. They simultaneously wish they could escape it where they're from - Noah from Vermont and Sam from England - but no matter what, they will always have a deep connection to their hometowns. It really is such a universal feeling that I never heard described into a song before. For better or worse, where you're from is something that will forever be a part of your identity.
favorite lyric: "I got dreams, but I can't make myself believe them, spend the rest of my life with what could have been"

"I Destroyed Disco" by The Dare
"I Destroyed Disco" is one the several highlights for me off of The Dare's debut album What's Wrong With New York? I first discovered him through his collaboration with Charli xcx on "Guess", as well as the iconic remix featuring Billie Eilish that was released soon after. He's one of my favorite new artists that I discovered this year, I love how his music is very much rooted in the New York club scene of the early 2000s, but with a modern electronic twist on it. His energy is so infectious!
favorite lyric: "What's a blogger to a rocker? What's a rocker to The Dare?"
"so american" by Olivia Rodrigo
"Angel of My Dreams" by JADE
Jade Thirwall of Little Mix finally released her long-awaited debut solo single and it sounds absolutely incredible! This song is what she called her "love/hate letter to the music industry" and is a really maximalist, bold way to reintroduce herself - in all of the best ways. I am really looking forward to seeing where she takes this new solo venture, she is one of the most exciting artists out right now with such a unique artistic vision. I'm looking forward to hearing a full album from her hopefully soon!
favorite lyric: "Angel of my dreams, I will always love you and hate you, it's not fair, it's so bittersweet, I will always want you and need you, you don't care"
Thanks for reading! I'd love for you to check out my list of my favorite albums of 2024, as well as some of my other favorite posts linked below.
This is one of my last posts of the year, so I wanted to take the time to thank everyone who has supported my writing this year. I have written so much new music content that I am so proud of and am very grateful for anyone who takes the time to read it. This year I wrote more than I ever have and was also able to reach more people than ever before on my blog. This is only just the beginning, I have so much great content planned for the coming months and I hope to see you back soon!
If you're interested in reading about more great music that didn't quite make it to this top 30 list, I would love for you to check out my ongoing New Music Friday series! Every month I compiled a list of my favorite new releases and I have loved putting those posts together throughout the year. Be sure to let me know what some of your favorite songs of 2024 were in the comment section below!
Wishing you all the best in 2025 and beyond! I hope you are having a wonderful holiday season! ✨
