About Me

Hello! My name is Melissa Kacar and I am a writer and artist from Pennsylvania. I have been posting regularly here on my blog since July of 2017 and have since written over 250 articles about music, beauty, fashion and more. My content now mainly focuses on music, with an emphasis on spotlighting new releases, in-depth analytical album reviews of all genres, vinyl records, concerts and more. My original product and concert photography is also featured throughout each post. Since 2017, I have been able to connect with hundreds of thousands of people from around the world through our shared love of these topics.

In 2022, I received an Associate's Degree in Communication Design (New Media) from Northampton Community College and in 2020 I also received an Associate's Degree in Journalism, Media and Professional Writing. During my academic career, I honed my skills in writing, editing, and multimedia content creation. My coursework in Journalism provided me with a strong foundation in research, fact-checking, and storytelling, while my studies in Communication Design equipped me with the technical skills to create engaging and visually appealing content.

My graphic design and writing go hand-in-hand and each passion of mine benefits from the other, particularly when it comes to my love for editorial design. I have always had a love for all things creative and art-related, but I knew I wanted to be a graphic designer since I was about 11 years old when I started playing around with different editing apps on my phone seeing what designs I could create with my photography. In my art, I find myself often mixing current digital design trends with the principals of contemporary pop artists. I am greatly inspired by pop culture, music and art – all of which are recurring themes in my work. I love having this as a creative outlet to share my thoughts and interests with like-minded people.

For my first post of  the new year, I wanted to share my thoughts on one of my favorite makeup releases, the Safiya Nygaard x Colourpop collection ! Safiya is one of my favorite YouTubers and Colourpop is my favorite makeup brand, so this is a really exciting collaboration!  Safiya consistently makes a variety of really high quality and interesting videos that mainly focus on beauty and fashion. I admire how much time and research she puts into what she does, all of the work that is put into these videos really shows in the finished product. If you haven't watched her channel before, I really can't recommend it enough!  In August 2017, she started a series called " bad makeup science ", which is the basis of this new Colourpop lipstick collection. When all is said and done, you'll believe God is a Woman!  I absolutely love all of the  fragrances   Ariana Grande  has released over the years, so when I found out that she was coming out with another I was so excited! Her song " God is a Woman " is also so iconic and one of my all-time favorites, so that made me look forward to it even more. I have been using it consistently for several months so I will able to give the most in-depth review I possibly can of this product. In the United States , God is a Woman  is sold exclusively at Ulta in three sizes; 1 oz for $45, 1.7 oz for $55, and 3.4 oz for $65. A travel size bottle is also available for $24. This pricing is consistent throughout the rest of Ariana's fragrances, so if you were looking to purchase another scent this is the range to expect. "the 1" by Taylor Swift // Song Review

The message and storyline of "the 1" by Taylor Swift is present in so many of the songs she went on to write in the years to follow. This was the last song written for  Folklore , which was a surprise release in July 2020 at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. She wrote "the 1" and "hoax" in the matter of a few hours, just before she was about to submit the final album. The songs that serve as bookends for  Folklore   are so intricately linked together through their shared narrative and yearning for a version of herself and her life that's gone. It is so warm and nostalgic, written as if she is having a conversation with someone she hasn't seen in a long time, an old friend or an old lover that didn't work out. Rare by Selena Gomez // 5 Year Anniversary Album Review

In many regards, Rare   was a fresh start for Selena Gomez , a new chapter for her as she was ready to leave her past hardships behind and rediscover herself in a way like never before. On this album, she sings about her newfound independence and spreads a message of self-love and self-empowerment to all who listen. It shines a spotlight on all of the qualities that are within us all that make us each special and rare. Selena's strength and vulnerability shines through in everything she does and so much of this album puts an emphasis on not letting the past define her, instead learning from the experiences. During the process of creating this album, Selena was struggling with major health issues and  Rare  is truly a testament to her endurance and strength in overcoming that battle. Charm by Clairo // Album Review

Third time's a charm! The beauty of Clairo 's Charm   truly lies in it's simplicity and subtleties of her artistry. This album is made up of simple musings that are so inherently personal and deeply relatable at the same time. She has such a talent for storytelling in a way that is innately modern, yet very rooted in pop aesthetics of the 1970's. Each song is so layered, with a warm and inviting atmosphere that the listener is engulfed in from the start. She and her core collaborator on this album, producer Leon Michaels, took an analog approach to the creation of Charm , bringing together a live ensemble of horns, woodwinds and synthesizers to capture the vintage sound. In an increasingly digital music landscape, I love to see her going back to basics in that way and creating something completely away from the trends.
